Ruckersville Dental Patient Forms

Technology today is changing our everyday lives. Many people are not’t aware that technology also is impacting dentistry in lots of new and exciting ways. Innovations in dental instruments allow you to spend less time in the dental chair, with less discomfort and satisfying results. CEREC® is a breakthrough instrument that allows our Ruckersville dentists to quickly restore damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving you time and inconvenience.

Ruckersville CEREC TechnologyWhat is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC allows a dentist to economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment, thanks to a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does the instrument work?
CEREC uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, integrating camera, computer and milling machine into one instrument. Your dentist uses a special camera to get an accurate picture of your damaged tooth. The optical impression is transferred for display on a color computer screen, where your dentist will use CAD technology to design a restoration. Then CAM automatically creates the restoration while you wait. Finally, your dentist bonds your new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire process can be completed in one single visit.

What does this innovation mean for me?
Tooth-colored restorations mean no more silver fillings or discolored smiles! CEREC fillings are natural-looking, compatible with other tissues in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Your dentist no longer needs to create a temporary or take an impression to send to the lab. This allows us to eliminate the traditional second visit. CEREC has been proven through two decades of clinical research and documentation that support the technology, creating restorations that have been proven to be precise, safe and effective.
