Invisalign

Invisalign is the virtually invisible alternative to straightening your teeth with braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners that straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. Each set of clear aligners is worn for about two weeks, removing them to eat, drink, brush your teeth, and floss. Your teeth will move as you replace each aligner with the next in the series. Little by little, week by week, they will straighten to the final position your orthodontist or dentist has prescribed. Visit your orthodontist or dentist approximately once every six weeks to be sure that your treatment progresses as planned.

Overall treatment time is 9-15 months on average, and most patients will wear between 18 - 30, although both time estimates will vary from case to case.

How does Invisalign work?
At Greene Comprehensive Family Dentistry, our Invisalign-trained dentists use 3D computer imaging technology to show you the complete treatment plan, from the initial position to the final desired result. This imaging technology is then used to design a series of custom-made aligners. You will wear each aligner for about two weeks, while your teeth move a little at a time. After two weeks, the current aligner will be replaced with the next one in the series until the final position has been achieved.

What do the aligners look like?
The aligners are clear and nearly invisible. They look much like clear tooth-whitening trays. Invisalign aligners are custom-made to fit and move your teeth, allowing comfort and an attractive appearance.

Will the treatment be painful?
When you change to a new aligner, there could be some temporary discomfort while your teeth move and adjust to their new position. This is normal, and is a positive sign that the treatment is effective.

Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech?
Some people may have a slight change while wearing them, but most patients adjust in a short period of time to the feeling of the aligners and do not notice any permanent changes to their speech.

How often will I have to wear my aligners?
Invisalign only works while you're wearing the aligners, so it's recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except when you need to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.

How much does Invisalign cost?
Only your doctor can determine the price of treatment. It is typically similar to ordinary metal braces, ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on your needs and your case.
